fbn Recovery

Recovery Fees

The initial charge is $40 to see if data can be recovered from your hard drive and is non-refundable. It is an additional $350 per drive to do data recovery up to 325GB of recovered data. The recovered data is placed on a new hard drive and returned with your original drive. No data is ever written to your old hard drive. These fees include the new hard drive your data is transfered to, and return shipping. Add $125 for 326-650GB of recovered data and another $100 for 651-1000GB of recovered data. See the Payment page for the full listing of our charges. Name brand 7,200 RPM hard drives are used such as Seagate, Hitachi, or Western Digital. These fees are for recovered data and not the size of your hard drive.

If the drive has more than one partition add $75 per partition to the cost of the recovery fees up to a maximum charge of $225 for four (4+) or more partitions. With a partitioned drive the data recovery fees are exactly the same as a single hard drive with one partition. We just add $75 for two (2) partitions, $150 for three (3) partitions, and $225 for four (4+) or more partitions. If you go to the Payment page and select "My hard drive has more than one partition" you will see how we charge for multi-partition drives. Again, no data is ever written on the original drive protecting your valuable files, and return shipping is free if FBN does the recovery for you.

If the information isn't found after our initial attempts to recover, FBN cannot recover your data, and FBN cannot guarantee that we will be able to recover all your data due to damage to the files, the directory, or bad sectors. However, the methods FBN utilizes are quite thorough and we have been very successful at recovering all the data from drives that have had a low level initialization done to them. We have also successfully recovered PGP Virtual Disks which are also referred to as PGP Disks. You will be contacted, we prefer email to avoid any misunderstandings, and informed if FBN can recover your data before you pay for the actual recovery.

FileVault accounts can be recovered, but due to the nature of a FileVault some of the data contained within it could be missing and may not be retrievable by Fly By Night's methods depending on how the drive was maintained. If your data is in a FileVault account and you must have every byte we suggest you seek another data recovery service, but our methods are quite thorough and we are confident that we will be able to recover your FileVault account. Please note that all your FileVault data may not be completely retrievable due to disk errors caused by bad sectors in the area of the drive where the FileVault data, or directory, was stored which means that it will probably be impossible for any data recovery service to recover that data. No data recovery service can guarantee you 100% success, but at FBN we strive to recover ALL your data by scanning your hard drive several times with different recovery configurations before we admit defeat.

Payment is expected before the actual recovery process is initiated. We will know before you are contacted if FBN can recover the data you desire but, again, cannot guarantee 100% success. If FBN cannot recover your data after the initial scans there is no charge except for the initial payment of $40 and your hard drive will be returned to you in its original state. You are expected to pay our standard $12 USPS return shipping fee which is added to the $40 scan fee.

If you dropped your laptop, or spilled coffee or some other liquid on it Fly By Night will NOT do data recovery as the drive could be physically damaged and FBN does not have the facilities to work on a drive that has been physically damaged. A physically damaged hard drive requires a Clean Room and very special equipment. We do not consider spilling liquid on the keyboard of a G5, Mac Pro, or iMac as damaging the hard drive. However, tipping over a tower like a G4, Mac Pro or an iMac while it's running is considered physical damage, and FBN is not qualified to recover data from a drive that has been in a computer that has been dropped while it was running.

Please note: if FBN attempts to recover data on a hard drive that has been physically damaged further data loss could be incurred and FBN can NOT be responsible for any data lost from scanning a physically damaged hard drive. If you are unsure whether your hard drive has been physically damaged please let us know.

–No RAID drives at this time.

–Macs Only FBN does not support any other platform and we have no plans of supporting any platform other than the Mac. We cater specifically to the Mac user.

–Please compile a list of all files and folders that are the most critical to recover and include it in the Message field on the Contact page. FBN attempts to recover everything, but as stated, FBN cannot guarantee you 100% success. Nor can any other data recovery service.
